Geiger studied painting at East Carolina University, and later science at Millersville University and has been meshing the two disciplines together into his recent paintings. While working in a science research community, he developed an eye for the substructure of things and began a move toward a more analytical approach in his painting. His painting practice interprets Nature in a multi-layered context using scale shifts and environmental issues as pictorial metaphors while acknowledging the contemporary dilemma of Painting in the 21st century. His compositions intermix macro leaf, tree and marine forms into microscopic landscapes where quasi-botanic rituals of rejuvenation and hope are staged.
He has been painting full time in his studio in upstate New York since 1996. His work is now in both private and public collections.
