I have an affinity for the American Farmer, especially those of the early and mid 1900s. Mechanization was moving into the agriculture of America. A majority of the American population lived on farms. Americans farmers during this period lived through a total change in how they grew their crops, survived the depression and conquer Germany, Japan and Italy during WWII.
The farmer was independent and self reliant. To survive in a time before crop insurance, welfare, food stamps and the like they had to get the work done. It did not matter if you were tired, sick, the sun was shinning or their was snow on the ground the work had to be done.
My parents came from that generation and I learned my work ethic from them. My parents grew up during these time of trouble and turmoil. They were raised on farms. My parents generation are such a contrast to much of the American youth of today.
I have been self employed all my life and I feel an great attachment to these great people.
