Elise P. Church is a professional artist and a maxillofacial/dental lab technician in New York City. Starting out in graphic design and gravitating to fine arts and abstract painting, she evolved her desire to create to three dimensional works while always placing importance in drawing, composition and color. During many years as an artist’s assistant, she created sculptures, drawings and installations based on found materials. Her work is based on the transformation of used and discarded objects. Through personal exploration and collecting specific materials, Elise has created new work from old, second hand and neglected things. Assembled, stitched, tied and drawn, the pieces reveal a feminine esthetic through the choice of palette, craft or subject matter with attention to the domestic.
