I am a professionally trained artist specializing in oil, pastel, charcoal, graphite and watercolor media. I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from the University of Hawaii.
Following graduation, I traveled to the Philippines and Italy. I exhibited an oil series and was a guest speaker in a group show in Italy. When I returned to the United States, I attended a portrait workshop by Daniel E. Greene. I put away my oils for the spontaneity of pastels. When I moved to Miami Beach, I shifted from portraits to architectural landscapes because of the influence of the Art Deco movement. After a solo exhibit in Miami Beach, I began painting lighthouses. My love of history and preservation found a new voice.
I've visited over 80 lighthouses in the United States and Europe. My love of lighthouses has not only transformed the way I travel but the way I live. When I am not traveling to lighthouses, I am painting, writing, or teaching workshops on lighthouses. This past fall, I had two solo exhibits of my lighthouse paintings in New York.
