Franki Kohler is a fiber artist who lives and works in Portland, Oregon. Her art quilts feature subjects from nature gathered from her surroundings, both at home and in her travels. She uses design techniques including cyanotypes, heliographic prints, photo transfer and appliqué, relying upon extensive thread work to complete the story. Her work was featured in four episodes of Creative Living with Sheryl Borden, on the cover of Creative Quilting, in Coloring With Thread, Furoshiki Fabric Wraps, ArtCard Ideas, FiberArts Magazine, and Quilting Arts Magazine. She published an article in Quilter’s World Magazine, and her own book fast, fun & easy Fabric Postcards. She has exhibited in solo shows, the fine arts venue San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles, as well as group shows throughout the United States and international shows in Germany, France and England. She is particularly pleased to have shared her work with the US Embassy Dili, Timor Leste.
