George Ellsworth Shear is an architect/illustrator with a longtime interest in vernacular buildings and the history of architecture. He is a native of New York State, attended Cornell University and practiced architecture as a partner in firms in New York City and Washington
Whether traveling in Italy or in Idaho, Shear is interested in the language and the history of the local architecture. Years ago in his travels in Italy, he came upon a series of drawings of the classical buildings of that country, - these became the inspiration for his first folio, "Historic Homes of the Hudson Valley". He has expanded his offerings to include prints of architecture, architectural details and streetscapes.
His museum quality prints, signed and numbered by the artist, and are reproduced using color-fast inks on acid free archival paper.
