Gena Brodie

Graduating from Valdosta State University with a degree in Art Education in 1995 led to art teaching positions within the public school systems of Georgia and Florida. While teaching in the public schools, Brodie exhibited both paintings and pottery, eventually leaving the teaching profession to pursue goals of becoming a professional artist and obtaining a Masters degree in Fine Art in Painting.
Brodie then studied at the Art Students League in New York City, the Scottsdale Artists School in Scottsdale, Arizona, and abroad at La Bonne Etoile in Fontaine - Forche, France.
Eventually returning to the states, Brodie enrolled in the Graduate Painting program at the Savannah College of Art and Design where she was awarded a New York Studio Space, offered quarterly, located at the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts Studio Center in Mid-town Manhattan.
While in New York, Brodie completed internships at the Exit Art Gallery in Chelsea, NY, and the Triangle Artists Workshop in Brooklyn.
Once awarded the Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Painting from The Savannah College of Art and Design in the fall of 2006, Brodie completed several bodies of work, mainly abstract centralizing around impermanence, memory, and motion. Brodie has exhibited throughout the U.S.
