Gregory Murr

Greg Murr is a visual artist working in painting, drawing and print media. Employing floral blooms and other familiar subject matter, his pictures explore ideas of motion, mutability and impermanence with respect to our environment. Fluid dynamics and organic frameworks, cosmological phenomena and social constructs all contribute to his practice as they help acknowledge our own transience and ever shifting habitat.

Murr's work has been included in exhibitions at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Arkansas Art Center and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He was a Visiting Artist/Instructor at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice and a Resident Fellow at the MacDowell Colony, the Robert M. MacNamara Foundation and the Morris Graves Foundation. His work is in collections that include the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Sheldon Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Tamarind Institute and Flatbed Press have published editions of his work. Murr received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of New Mexico and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wake Forest University.
