I grew up on a remote farm in Arkansas and gained useful craftmanship skills from an early age. After studying art at university for 9 years, I've made art full time as an adult (with the exceptions of two summers doing seasonal work in Yellowstone National Park and Alaska).
My initial successful work focused on pared down trompe l'oeil paintings about folk and faith healing that were exhibited and collected across the country (which provided for me financially). Simultaneously, I was working on bi-annual multimedia projects exploring focused questions.
In 2008, I secretly began single-handedly creating an international biennial featuring the artwork of 100 artists (inventing fictional characters and creating the actual artworks). After two years, I completed the project and revealed it personally at TED 2011. My most recent solo shows of paintings and sculptures in New York City focused on my fascination with current mysteries in physics like dark matter. Recently, I have been creating lyrical “complete” models of the cosmos.
