Howard Fullmer

There are few things so polarizing in society today as the gun. Some view gun ownership as a venerated constitutional right, others see them as a sign of societies desensitization and demise. My work is purposefully ambiguous, letting viewers determine which side they fall. I prefer to create work that does makes people think and question.

My work is created by collecting .22 caliber brass shells retrieved from outdoor shooting ranges then recycling them in a found media piece. Images are created with shells, sorted by patina and glued according to their value on a board. By using brass bullet shells as a medium, images immediately evoke opinion and discussion.
