Jon Taner was born and raised in New Jersey. His earliest studies at the Art Students League in New York City were followed by classes at the Philadelphia College of Art in Pennsylvania. He obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the California College of Arts and Crafts (renamed the California College of the Arts) and his Master of Fine Arts from Syracuse University where he was awarded a Ford Foundation Grant for both years of his studies. Other training included workshops with master printmaker Bernard Greenwald in Stottville and Hudson, New York and course work in fine art appraisal at New York University.
Taner has been represented by many galleries throughout California, New Jersey, Maine, Massachusetts, and Florida. His work is currently on view at the American Airlines Ambassador Lounge at Miami International Airport where he is represented by Jennifer Embler Fine Art. He is also showing with Kathy Imlay Fine Art in New Jersey.
