Artist Judy James BA MBA MS. An Olympic venue painting, of the 1980 Olympic Luge track in Lake Placid, was displayed at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics and at the NY State Governor's Executive Chambers on long term loan. The Artist developed a Sister Olympic Cities Art Exchange project with students from schools in Lake Placid and Salt Lake City, and curated the show at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid. The 1980 Olympic Luge track painting was chosen for a display loan in Eastern Europe through the Arts in Embassies program but she allowed it to be installed at the NY Governor's Executive Chambers instead. The Artist was invited by the Mayor of Torino, Italy, to create paintings on site of the bob/luge track used for the Torino Olympics. These paintings are shown here. These paintings were also exhibited during the FISU Winter Games 2023 in Lake Placid, N.Y. These 3 or 4 Olympic venue: bob/luge track paintings can be acquired for the new spaces of the new embassy complex in Milan in time to celebrate the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics in Feb 2026. A letter of support regarding their quality, and support as to the project of placing these paintings for the upcoming Olympics in Milan/Cortina, was received Feb. 2025 from the Director of The Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage, of the International Olympic Committee at Lausanne, Switzerland. A positive letter about the quality of this series was received from The Olympic Museum in Lausanne.
