Julia Schwartz is an artist living and working in Santa Monica, California. Her paintings, deeply influenced by years of psychoanalytic study and practice, have been included on 1000 Living Painters and were featured in New American Paintings 2011 Pacific Coast Edition and in the 2013 New Collectors Book. Her work is collected widely and has been exhibited internationally, including group shows at George Lawson Gallery, Appels Gallery, Marine Art Salon, the Annenberg Beach House, and solo shows at Bleicher Gallery La Brea. She has several upcoming shows in 2013 at Jaus, Marin Community Foundation, and Parallel Art Space. In addition to being a painter, she recently became the Arts Editor for the website Figure/Ground Communication, interviewing visual and other artists about their practice.
