Born in Yokohama, Japan, Keiko Nemeth studied both in Japan and the U.S., and was the recipient of a scholarship to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago upon graduation from a public high school in IL. However, she returned to Japan and enrolled in the International Division of Sophia University in Tokyo. After permanently emigrating to the U.S., she settled in Northern California and resumed her art studies at the American River College in Sacramento and almost immediately began showing her work in competitive exhibitions and gallery shows.

In the 1980's she and her family relocated to Florida where her artistic focus became site-specific murals. The most important work during this period is the free-standing 10 ft. by 27 ft. abstract mural for the newly erected Central Motor Bank in Jefferson City, Missouri. She also traveled frequently to Chicago to work on mural commissions.

In 2000 she relocated to Chicago to pursue her own artistic vision in the studio art. Initially she showed her work in alternative venues such as boutique wine shop, pop-up gallery and County Government lobby, working out of a former tannery building in Bucktown. With relocation of her studio to an art center, she began showing in permanent galleries on college campus and cultural institutions. In March of 2014 she established her studio in her current location at Mana Contemporary and has since maintained a steadily schedule of exhibitions, both comprehensive solo shows and selected artists group shows.
