I have worked with cut and welded steel for over 30 years. I select steel scrap to form figures, flora and fauna. For the past four years a large percentage of my work has been in a series I call "talking back to the news". the subjects include Refugee, Detainee, a two figure Hug, Change Agent, and two figures of different colors talking.
My website mlordsculpts.com has not been updated since 2015, but includes a good archive of past work. I use Instagram account @madeleinelordmadimetal to post current work and the website madeleinelord.com is based on those posts.
My public works include a 10' Giraffe owned by the Boston Federal Reserve Bank, and a large two figure cutout in Whitinsville MA which was the first permanent 9/11 memorial in New England if not the US.
My work is the result of the news and the steel I find. The process of "Choice and Fit" described by sculptor John Chamberlain describes the motions of what I do. The internal emotional and spiritual content however is what I work for, Transforming the inanimate to the animate is a start but endowing the work with emotional presence is the goal.
