Jane Zich is a psychologist as well as an award-winning visual artist who exhibits her work nationally. She has frequently been impressed by how our perceptions and intuitions take form in the unconscious as dreams and spontaneous imagery that help us transform our sometimes overlooked experiences and surroundings into conscious wisdom, once we give the images our attention. With this in mind, during the past decade Jane Zich’s artistic aim has been to understand how imagery from the collective unconscious — especially images of animals, plants, spirits, and ancestors — might be alerting us to ways our culture is off-balance, disconnected, or otherwise unsustainably engaged with the earth and with each other, and how we might remedy this situation. Her paintings emphasize an attitude of partnership with nature in order to heal both the human community and the earth itself.
