Pennsylvania-based artist Maria Livrone is mostly self-taught in many art disciplines, currently focused in mixed media with an opal-infused 2 part epoxy base. To that she adds different elements, such as urethanes, pigments, glass and various other elements to reach her desired vision and texture. Sometimes encaustic is even added. Everything is manipulated onto wood by hand, with the introduction of heat from a torch. "The torch serves as my paintbrush, allowing me to create movement onto my canvas." Her goal is to invoke imagination from the viewer. Maria is inspired by the beauty which surrounds her in nature, be it the sea, colors or creatures.
