My work is part of several private and corporate collections in the USA, Switzerland and HongKong.

Even as a child,I knew that I wanted to capture or create images. But as in many families of my generation, becoming an artist was not an option. Even my interest in graphic design - a venerable career in my native Switzerland- was not considered. I was also intimidated by some of my art teachers who wanted me to fit into the dry, abstract minimalism movement that was “in vogue” then. So I pursued some other occupations but they always lead me back to the arts. I picked up photography, a medium that allowed me to capture images but that was before the digital revolution. Very quickly this became too limiting for me and after working with collage for a while, I finally started painting and have not stopped since.
I am looking for strong images and find them through my relationships and family. The imagery in my present work deals with

THE PEAR, THE CONE FLOWER AND THE FEMALE FIGURE.

I paint their beauty without controversy, focusing on form and organic qualities. These images never fail to fascinate me. In my narrative paintings I use these images again to relate events that have affected me.
Oil on canvas is the medium I use for most of my work. But gouache on paper also gives me a chance to explore ideas quickly, simply and with wonderful rich colors.

I live and work in Guilderland, NY. I am married to Peter McHugh and we have two grown children who no longer live at home. We have a dog, Maddie.
