Cochran has been an artist-in-residence at a wide range of organizations including youth centers and cultural sites. She has been a visiting instructor at educational institutions including the University of GA, Athens; Prince Georges Community College, Largo, MD and Western Carolina University, Cullowhee, NC. She has exhibited extensively throughout the Southeast and nationally. Selected venues include the Lyndon Johnson Presidential Library & Museum, Austin, TX; Howard University Art Gallery, Washington, DC; Spelman University, Atlanta, GA; Center for African American History and Culture, Smithsonian Institute, Washington, DC; Studio Museum of Harlem, NYC; High Museum of Art, Atlanta, GA among others.
Cochran has served on peer-review grant panels for the Georgia Council for the Arts and the Mid-Atlantic Arts Council. She has received numerous awards to include the Cultural Olympiad Regional Designation Award, (from the Atlanta Cultural Olympics Committee in honor of the 1996 Summer Olympics); Georgia Council for the Arts, Individual Artist’s Grant, the Artist as Catalyst Grant, Mid-Atlantic Arts Council, Baltimore, MD; Lilly Teaching fellowship, University of Georgia travel/study to Havana, Cuba; NEA/Southern Arts Federation Fellowship, Sculpture
