Michelle Charles Bio

Charles has received numerous awards in support of her work, including a grant from Pollock Krasner Foundation Fellowship in 1993/4 and 2001/2. Michelle currently lives, and has her studio, in London .

Her work has been exhibited throughout the world, including shows at Kettle’s Yard - Cambridge UK, Anthony Grant, NY, John Weber Gallery NY, Mobile Home Gallery, London, The New Museum of Contemporary Art, NY. Nueberger Museum, Purchase, NY, Weatherspoon Museum Of Art, NC, Art in General, NY. the Harris Museum and Art Gallery, Preston UK, and at the first Lodz Biennale in Poland.

Michelle Charles’s works are a part of public and private collections that include: The Brooklyn Museum, British Museum, National Museum of Art Washington DC, The Addison Gallery of American Art, Andover MA, The Jerome Foundation, Minneapolis, The Contemporary Arts Society, London, and The Museum of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, London.

A catalogue of recent work, with essays by Dore Ashton and Guy Brett, is now available from Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge, UK. Michelle Charles has been supported by Arts Council England in her preparation for this exhibition.
