Matthew Liam Conboy was born in 1977 in Washington, DC. He is a photographer and installation artist currently living and working in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After earning a B.S. in architecture at the Catholic University of America and an M.F.A. in design and photography at Virginia Commonwealth University, Matthew pursued a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Art at Ohio University and is currently ABD. He recently finished shooting a long-term photographic project that involved documenting the 24 centers of population that were plotted at the conclusion of every census. In addition, Matthew has been awarded grants towards travel, research, and the production of new art from Virginia Commonwealth University, Ohio University, the Midwest Art History Society, the Southeastern College Art Conference, the Mattress Factory Art Museum, the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, and the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.
