Melissa L Pelczar concentrates on capturing the truth in the mundane, forgotten and seemingly normal everyday moments. Pelczar strives to pull the viewer into the moment of absoluteness. And for that moment, the mask of perception falls away revealing the simplicity of being; deluging in fragmental memories and the depths of solitude. A conversation with a stranger, a ride on a train, a building that beckons and fragments from the works of all people are moments that inspire Melissa. Whether it be works of art, literature, scientific research or the mechanics of a person; these glimpses into another’s reality are all the fuel for the fire of the mind.
The road of curiosity has taken Pelczar from the agricultural-dairy farm of Landenberg, PA to Delaware College of Art and Design where she obtained her AFA. Then continued her education at Corcoran College of Art and Design where she received her BFA. But her interest were not only in the arts so she pursued the studies of European Middle Ages, Sociology and Runology at Universitetet i Oslo, Norway and Karlova Univerzita v Praze, Czech Republic. Later, after moving to Poland, Pelczar found photography to be the medium best portraying the mythos of people, places and things.
