Mary Sawyer

Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Molly Sawyer completed her under-graduate work in 1995 at Guilford College, Greensboro, North Carolina where she received a B.A. in Studio Art. She went on to develop her studio in Greensboro and continued with ceramic sculpture, exploring abstract organic form.

Sawyer returned to Atlanta in 1998 to act as an assistant in the ceramics studio at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. It was here that she began to explore the figure in clay. She relocated to New York City in 2001 where she studied from models at both the New York Studio School and the Art Students League of New York.

In 2004 she began the study of horses. These have since become a flowing stylization representing movement and emotion through the horse. These she sculpts in wax. The originals are then cast in editions of bronze and bonded bronze.

Her sculptures are part of New York Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Mohegan Sun Casino, and the Ritz-Carlton Boston collections, as well as various private and corporate collections throughout the East Coast while she exhibits nationally.
