Jane Lewis lives in Lutz, Florida. It is here at Easy Street Studios that I work on many ideas and collaborate on various projects. These have included paintings, sculpture, pottery and graphic design. My work is the reflection of the spirt within us all. I feel strongly about the importance in our lives of objects that speak to us, inspire, excite, or in some way enrich us. It is this level of communication that I aspire to in my work. My work is collected internationally. Corporate and private collections include: The White House, Sun Bank, Walt Disney World, All Childrens Hospital, UNICEF, Spelman College, Ikon Office Solutions, Milwaukee Art Museum, The National Childrens Trust Fund, and MadGraw Hill Publishing.
My current work is handpainting on silk. First, the drawing is applied to white silk by the meticulous method of gutta resist application. The colors are mixed with a blend of procion and French dyes and applied to the silk with the gutta surrounding each area. The painting is steam set and mounted to acid free paper and finished in a Bas-relief format.
Jane recieved formal art training at Rhode Island School of Design, Parsons, and Florida Southern College. She is currently a Peer Evaluator with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, working with the School District of Hillsborough County.
