Nicole Sherey

I am a landscape painter fascinated with horizon lines. At a young age I painted prairie-scapes with water on hot Texas asphalt. Upon moving to the Pacific Northwest, a new influence entered my life, the grandeur of our national parks and wild lands. Paintings from my Seattle studio explore associations linked to digital snapshots of America’s wild places by embedding the photographs in vibrant landscape paintings. I employ mixed media with photography as evidence of the landscapes’ real-time existence in twenty-first century America. My work has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions. I am published in Washington Trails and Independent Rowing News magazines. I graduated from the University of Oregon Summa Cum-Laude with a B.A. in Studio Art and a B.F.A. in painting in 2003. I can be found spending most mornings rowing on Lake Washington in Seattle witnessing sunrises over the Cascades.
