I am a self taught fiber artist. I work with any type of fiber or material that can be rendered into a thread or string. As much as possible, I like to pull my materials from the waste stream, giving them new life and reducing my contribution to waste.
I dye my own fabric using naturally occurring material. I try to make this as environmentally friendly as possible. I minimize the amount of water used, use pigments that occur naturally in plants and do not use metals to set the pigments, reducing the toxic waste produced in the process.
I am inspired by the natural world and all its beauty and by the kindness and resilience of people. My work ranges in content from literal stories of people to quiet witness of nature.
