STATEMENT

Recognition of the soul of the subject, whether animal or human, is the difference between a picture and a portrait. To see into a soul is essential in portraiture. My painting is a quest to find and portray the individuality of each of my subjects. Using oil on canvas, I carefully layer and blend, seeking with paint the point at which the picture becomes a portrait and the unique soul of each subject reveals itself.

PERSONAL DESCRIPTION

I live in Rockford, Illinois. My life is effectively managed by my dogs, Molly and Rosie with the able assistance of my grandchildren, Bryce and Katie.
