Pieter S. Myers is a printmaker working primarily in the medium of photogravure, that is, limited edition hand-pulled copperplate etchings of images derived photographically. Concentrating on the figure and images of people, Pieter takes commissioned work in contemporary portraiture. Pieter received his BA degree in studio arts from Colorado College with a specialty in printmaking at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. While living on the Monterey Peninsula in California, he practiced large format fine art photography, studying with Ansel Adams, Wynn Bullock and other master photographers of the area. Other important influences include portrait study with Joyce Tenneson and photogravure training at Crown Point Press in San Francisco. Pieter now lives in Sonoma County, California, where he operates a photogravure studio combining darkroom, print shop, and portrait facilities.
