Press Release:
Renee Kennedy paints evocative, mood driven scenes and figures. She conveys the textures and patterns particular to the spaces that women occupy. The quality of red curly hair is juxtaposed to the smooth, sinuous curves of the patterned wallpaper behind the figure. Her figures capture an emotional element created by her choice of color. The fluctuation of intensity of her indigo backgrounds evokes nostalgia, while her deep reds are sultry against the smooth skin of her figures. Her figures are captured at rest, their faces displaying the tranquility and secretiveness of a peaceful Madonna. Kennedy studied at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Her extensive work is part of both public and private collections nationwide and has been exhibited in museums. As her work demonstrates, she is interested in figure painting, tributes to women and images of life.
“I have always felt that artists are under exposed and under appreciated. Kennedy Promotions works to change that.” Renee’ Kennedy.
