Shirley Crow is a Santa Fe, New Mexico, based painter who graduated from the University of Missouri, with further studies at the Lowell Collins School of Art in Houston, Texas. Shirley Crow has exhibited throughout the United States and in Brussels, Belgium. She’s a winner of the Delaware State Arts Council Individual Artists’ Fellowship Award.

“My art explores an unsettling but beautiful world that is filled with light, energy, motion and change. I’m interested in ambiguous forms, ‘chunks of the universe,’ that express this energy and light and I like to juxtaposition unexpected forms and colors next to each other.

My work comes from my personal experiences – I paint about deep joy and appreciation of life but this enthusiasm is tempered by emotions like apprehension, pain and longing. We are faced with a constantly transforming reality – how are we changing and how are we staying the same? We still only have the moment – how do we make the most of it?”
