With my art I try to negotiate the complex mix of personal, traditional and contemporary influences that make me who I am. I make my own paint from hand ground minerals like an old master while I paint in a contemporary personal style My work often reflects the release of imagery stored in my head as the result of living and working in New York city, as well as the lasting impression of visiting South Africa and other locations around the world I pay much attention to line in my work as part of my training as a printmaker.
