Shin-hee Chin

Shin-hee Chin has received awards for her fiber/mixed media art, along with awards for her teaching and scholarship. In 2007, she received the Best of Show award in Fiber Focus 2007 by the Art St. Louis, Missouri. In 2008, she received an honorable mention in the 9th Quilt Nihon show in Tokyo, Japan. In 2009, she received an honorable mention in the Surface Design Member show, and Embroiderer’s Award in Fiber Focus 2009 by the Art St. Louis, Missouri. In 2008, she was selected as a Distinguished Professor of the Year and received the Hope Scholarship at Tabor College. In 2009 she was selected one of the mentors for the Artist Exchange Program at Salina Art Center. In 2010, she received Publisher’s Award at Quilt Nihon in Tokyo, Japan. She got a Merit Award in Human Rights Exhibition at South Texas College in McAleen, Texas. In 2011, She received Award of Excellence at the Carnegie Center in Indiana. Her artwork has been exhibited across the United States and internationally in numerous individual and group exhibitions; including the Metropolitan Art Museum in Tokyo, Japan; Shanghai International Convention Center in China; Abilmente Gallery in Fiera di Vicenza, Italy; Marie Aux Mines, in Alsace, France; Jin Heung Art Hall in Seoul, Korea. In 2002, Maryland PBS’s Artworks This Week featured her artwork and art world, along with interview by Nate Howard. Chin received her bachelor’s degree in fine arts and a master’s degree in fine arts from Hong-Ik University in Seoul, Korea and a master’s degree in arts from the California State University at Long Beach. She is an Associate Professor of visual art at Tabor College, Kansas.
