Shani Simpson is a South Florida based multi-disciplinary visual artist with parents from the Caribbean nations of Jamaica and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Shani works across multiple disciplines including, painting, photography, mixed media, design, and textile design. She seeks to create images that are both unique and beautiful. Inspired by her Christian faith, the Bible, nature, the arts, music, cinema, fashion, and architecture, her works allow the viewer to feel and see deeply as they view them.
Shani is an alumna of the Dreyfoos School of the Arts’ Visual Arts department. While attending the Dreyfoos School of the Arts, she also became bilingual in Spanish, studying the language from grades 8-12, and electing to major in Spanish at the University of Miami.
She has a B.A. in International Studies from the University of Miami (GO CANES!), completed her International Studies Capstone coursework in Australian Studies at Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia. Shani also visited the cities of Sydney and Perth to enhance her knowledge of the land ‘Down Under.’ She also holds a Master’s in Non-Profit Management and a Women’s Executive Leadership Certificate from Florida Atlantic University.
An avid traveler, Shani has visited Jamaica, Australia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, México, Guatemala, Canada, Israel, Barbados, the United Arab Emirates, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Bahamas, Tanzania, as well as various cities throughout the United States. Images from these places have a great influence on the work she produces.
