Shahrzad Taavoni

Shahrzad Taavoni, BS, MATCM, Dip. OM, L.Ac, has developed a very unique style in her art that is influenced by her background and education. She received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Maryland College Park and her Masters degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine from Yo San University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Los Angeles, California. Pulling from these disciplines, she uses many themes from microbiology and cell anatomy in her artwork. She also incorporates repetitive visual themes from nature such as the curvy lines, twists and turns in plant anatomy. Drawing from her profession as an Acupuncturist, she has also become a healer through her art. Her intention behind her lively and colorful art is to heal and inspire the viewer's spirit.

Shahrzad Taavoni had a solo exhibition at the Grand Opera House in Wilmington, Delaware in October 2010 where President Obama concurrently presented a speech. She has also exhibited her art at the Embassy of Singapore in Washington D.C and at The Art Gallery and Design House at the prestigious Washington DC Design Center.
