Steve Rands is a sculptor working in stone, wood, and metal. Steve lives in the heart of the Southern Maryland Amish country of St. Marys County where he maintains a studio on 15 acres of forested land near the shore of the Patuxent River. In his previous life, Steve was a career officer in the United States Navy, was trained to operate nuclear propulsion plants, flew helicopters, and was deployed multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan before retiring in 2017. His art explores emotional expression of the human form while personally serving as a method of exorcism of the demons of war.
