Thomas Sundberg

I choose to paint landscape with pastel, ink/watercolor because the beauty of the land around us and the environment we live in gets ignored. Landscape is an endless source of visual information and inspiration from the least detail to the grandest vista. I am inspired by the magnitude of diversity in the natural world, even in the apparently uninhabited landscape; God must have had and is having a grand time creating. Why do I paint? I want to share the Creator’s enjoyment in work. I can only reflect and modify what creation shows. I think the creation has that Joy in it.
I credit my father Lawrence A. Sundberg for my interest and early education in drawing/painting, and an excellent group of teachers in the public schools of Anaheim, California. In particular, my high school instructor, thank you Elsie. I couldn’t do anything with Art without the ongoing encouragement and support of my family, particularly my lovely bride.
