Tamara English’s work has been exhibited extensively in the US and abroad, including at the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Eisemann Center in Dallas, Bedford Gallery in the Bay Area, the US Embassy in RIga, Latvia, and the Seattle Art Museum. She holds a BFA in painting from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, where she received the Charles Carey Life Drawing Prize. She has been awarded several grants from the Regional Arts & Culture Council in Portland. Her paintings have appeared in the television series “Portlandia.” In 2018, English was named a recipient of the Ford Family Foundation Oregon Visual Artist Residency Award, and was awarded a Golden Spot artist residency at Playa Summerlake in Oregon. Her paintings have been featured in Curatorial Volume 2, Leaders in Contemporary Art, published by Melbourne, Australia based Capsule Books. She is represented by Caplan Art Designs in Portland, Addington Gallery in Chicago, Cooper & Smith Gallery in Connecticut, and Seattle Art Museum's Sales & Rental Gallery. Her work is widely collected and represented in many collections, including the collections of Lock Haven University, Pacific Northwest College of Art, and Columbia Sportswear. English lives and works in Portland, Oregon.

In her paintings, English explores themes of awakening to the presence of the divine, re-enchantment, and nature as a catalyst for discovering the sacred in life. The oil paintings reveal inner worlds as types of landscapes, becoming portals to discover the buoyancy found in connecting with the presence of the sacred.
