Thomas Hölzer, born in 1957 in Cologne, Germany, began his studies of Fine Art at the Cologne Kunsthochschule. He later studied at the famed Pilchuck School in Stanwood, Washington.
Thom spent many years living in Colorado and Hawaii before establishing his studios in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Each medium he works in influences and inspires him in its own way. What had started decades ago with designs for architectural art glass and mosaic installations eventually merged into his recent series of paintings, carried out through strong statements of form and color, while always searching for the dialectic process.
When working on large scale installations, project intent, functions of space and its scale are studied in collaboration with client representatives and design team members to ensure a successful, well integrated design concept.
