William Jude Niebauer is an Assistant Professor at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC), where he has been teaching since 1999. Niebauer teaches 3D Design, Sculpture and Drawing within CCBC’s Institute of Art, Design and Interactive Media, and also serves as Coordinator of Arts at CCBC Essex.

Shortly after his birth in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Niebauer moved with his family to Baltimore, Maryland. After 6 years of living in Anne Arundel County, Niebauer moved with his family to the Northern Territory of Australia where they lived in Alice Springs for 4 years. During those formative years, when he was not playing with his pet kangaroo, Niebauer rode BMX, studied Judo, and roamed the Outback. Niebauer borrows the Aboriginal term Dreamtime to describe his time in Alice.

Upon returning to the states, 1980’s skateboard graphics, and the freedom of his time as a skater, impacted Niebauer in a variety of ways, including influencing him to find additional creative outlets, particularly in the arts.

After two years as an art major at Catonsville Community College, Niebauer matriculated to the Rhode Island School of Design where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1997. In 1999, Niebauer earned his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Maryland, College Park.

For the past decade, Niebauer has exhibited his sculptural work in North Carolina, Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, New York, and Rhode Island. Niebauer designed and built a permanent sculpture in 2004 for the City of Baltimore’s Visitor Center located at the Inner Harbor. His print work is currently on exhibit in the 2011 Excellence in Printmaking Show at the Washington Printmakers Gallery, Pyramid Atlantic Art Center in Silver Spring, Maryland. Niebauer’s prints will also be shown in the 3rd Guanlan International Print Biennial 2011, Shenzhen, China.
